The golf
At just 100 metres from the hotel is a 18-hole, par 72 and 6,316m championship golf course set over 70 hectares. Conceived by the Californian architect Ronald Fream of the internationally renowned Golfplan Studio, it has been designed with total respect for the environment.
The course consists of various gentle slopes and some undulated fairways. Its three streams, the large water hazards at holes 1, 2, 3, 9 and 18, the bunkers of siliceous sand and the greens surrounded by gradual slopes not only offer technical challenges but also provide a striking scenic backdrop.
The realization of such an impressive course has respected strict regulations governing the protection of local nature. Deer, porcupines, hares, tortoise, pheasants, various local species of dove, wild boars and countless other Maremman birds visible in the early hours of the morning.
The Italian Golf Federation has awarded Terme di Saturnia Golf Club with its “Green Commitment – Landscape category” environmental award. This award was established by the Italian Golf Federation to raise awareness for golf clubs and players on environmental issues with the aim of sensitively integrating golf courses and the landscape.
